Helping Users Find Your App
Google Analytics is a free web analytics service that generates detailed statistics about activity on a website for the purposes of marketing and search engine optimization (SEO). It is the most widely used website statistics service, and anyone with a Google account has access to to the basic version. According to its website, Google Analytics “helps you analyze visitor traffic and paint a complete picture of your audience and their needs, wherever they are along the path to purchase.”
Easy to Set Up and Use
Google Analytics is free and can be set up in three easy steps on an afternoon. Whether you are looking to boost sales, discover more visitors, or enhance your mobile app, Google Analytics has the insights and solutions needed to improve your business. Missing out on valuable customers? Google Analytics can track visitors from all referrers, including search engines, social networks, direct visits, and referrals from other websites. The service also tracks display advertising, pay-per-click networks, email marketing, and digital collateral such as links within a PDF document.
By remarketing with Google Analytics, you can combine the power of Google Analytics with the scope of the Google Display Network to re-engage your users based on the knowledge of their on-site actions. Focused on marketing instead of marketing technology? Google Tag Manager allows you easily to add or update your website tags and mobile applications for free whenever you want, and it is the web's most popular enterprise-grade tag management solution for both marketers and IT teams.
It’s That Easy!
Google Analytics connects to your website through a piece of tracking code. This is a small piece of Javascript coding made within your analytics account. As an account holder, you generate this code and then place it into the HTML back end of your website. The Google Analytics code needs to be placed on every page of your website that you want tracked.
As users navigate between pages on a website, Google Analytics provides website owners JavaScript tags (libraries) to record information about the pages a user has visited. Google Analytics uses first party Cookies on each visitor’s computer to store anonymous information; these Cookies aggregate visitor data into your account. The Google Analytics JavaScript libraries use HTTP Cookies to "remember" previous user interactions on the website, i.e. which of the site’s pages a user has visited and what the user has done while on those pages.
